The Invisalign® system is completely wire-free, utilizing a series of nearly invisible clear, plastic, custom-made removable trays that are worn over your teeth and work to slowly move your teeth over time into the position outlined by the dentist. Invisalign® eliminates the embarrassment of wires and brackets associated with traditional metal braces. While treatment time varies depending on the patient, general treatment time is between 9-15 months. Each set of removable trays is worn for approximately 1 week before being changed out to the next set in the series. You will see your dental specialist every 4-6 weeks in order to check your progress and review your new aligner trays. For best results, Invisalign® aligners should be worn for 20-22 hours a day for the full duration of your treatment, allowing up to 2 hours per day to remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.
