There are two typical situations where teeth need to be removed from the mouth. One of the most common removal procedures we conduct are for wisdom teeth. A large portion of the population needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, typically when they are a teenager. Having your wisdom teeth removed is not as scary as it sounds. Just like any dental procedure, with the correct numbing agents and tools, the process is quite painless and straight forward. There will be a recovery period which can last a few days up to a few weeks. It is very important to have your wisdom teeth removed if there is no room in your mouth for them as they can drastically cramp and shift the rest of your teeth. Wisdom teeth can also result in massive internal pain, infections and chronic headaches if they don’t come in correctly.
Sometimes one of the teeth in your mouth has to be extracted to make room or due to infection. Our first course of action is to save the tooth but if it has been severely damaged, extraction is the best course of action. Similar to wisdom teeth removal, extraction is now a much easier process than it was 30 years ago. With anesthetics, the correct tools and gentle hands, we can extract your tooth quickly and find a long-term solution for the gap that now exists if required.
